The Digital Lightroom Photo Competition..

This post marks the launch of the Digital Lightroom Photo Competition. This is a WordPress photography competition by photographers for photographers. There are many great WordPress photography blogs out there and many very talented photographers.  The purpose of this competition is to celebrate this.

We have two great prizes on offer from those awfully nice people over at Topaz Labs.  The winner of this first competition will receive a key to download and license Topaz Black and White Effects. The runner up will receive a key to download and license Topaz Adjust.  You can see for yourself what fabulous prizes and what a great addition to your processing tool bag these prizes would be by following the links.

The entries to this competition will be judged by a panel of experienced photographers who will choose a shortlist of  five photographs.  This shortlist will go to a WordPress community vote using Poll Daddy.

The theme of this first competition is Spring.

All entries should be received by Friday, 8th March. The shortlisted photographs will then be posted here, on this blog, for the voting to take place.  The winner will be announced by the 31st March when we will hopefully launch the second competition.

We’ll be posting a collection of entries as they come in so be sure to add The Digital Lightroom to the list of blogs that you follow.

The email address for submissions is thedigitallightroom@gmail.com. Please add Photo Submission to the subject field.

Your photos should measure no more than a height or width of 950 px and should not have a resolution greater than 300 px.  Please see the rules page for more details.

Below are some images taken by the judges.  These images are not necessarily representative of the theme, but hopefully you’ll enjoy them and perhaps they’ll inspire you to get out there and take a competition winning photo..

The very best of Luck!!

What a super opportunity to show off those images of *Spring* in The Digital Lightrooms very first photographic competition !
Best of Luck to everyone 🙂

  7. But it’s not spring here yet! 😉

    • That occurred to me last night Lynne, some poeple will be going into Autumn and for others in the more northerly climes, Spring is a little way off. I consoled myself with the knowledge that people would probably have images in their archives.. 🙂

Over the past 8 months or so since I started my blog I have seen some outstanding images by some truly exceptional photographers. Today sees the launch of a great new photo competition on The Digital Lightroom that aims to showcase some of this talent. So why don’t you check it out and give it a go…..there are some fab prizes to be won!!

I’m very proud to be associated with this project and honoured that I have been asked by the organisers to sit on the panel of judges.

  9. That’s a great gallery of photos. Good luck with your competition! 🙂

  10. What an interesting idea! Will be following to find out more. One question: is it safe to assume that the judges are not fond of people pictures? Persons only appear in three of the over fifty or so photos posted…

    • No, not safe to assume that 🙂 Questions we’ll be asking ourselves among others are: 1. Is there a point of interest. 2. Is the image composed well. 3. Is the focus crisp and the exposure appropriate i.e. technically correct 4. Does the photo tell a story or evoke an emotion 5. Does the lighting enhance the subject or message 6. Is the approach creative and relevant to the theme.
      I hope that helps!
